Single-sided cylinder ‘Ziggy’ Ankara print fabric lampshade

‘Ziggy’ is a bespoke lampshade designed using my architectural understanding of illumination and how patterned textiles behave when light passes directly through them. Handmade using a bold, graphic fabric, Ziggy creates a vibrant, iridescent glow that adds instant character to any interior.

Fabric Story This shade features the Ankara printed fabric, chosen for its energetic zig‑zag geometry and layered tones of green white and black. The pattern is expressive and modern, and because it sits on the exterior, it remains visually striking whether the lamp is on or off. When illuminated, the colours soften slightly and the geometry gains a gentle depth, as both the green and white become almost iridescent giving the shade a dynamic yet refined presence.

Lighting Behaviour Ziggy responds beautifully to warm bulbs, enhancing the richness of the outer colours and creating a cosy, inviting ambience ideal for living and dining rooms plus bedrooms. Cooler bulbs sharpen the zig‑zag edges and intensify the contrast, giving the shade a crisp, contemporary feel that works well in hallways, home offices, or reading corners. Its balanced behaviour makes it suitable for both ambient and task lighting.

Handmade Craft Each lampshade is handmade in London using traditional making techniques. The exterior pattern is aligned with precision, the interior lining is finished cleanly, and the structure is built to maintain its form over time. As part of a limited run, every shade carries the individuality of the maker’s hand.
