‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ is a bespoke lampshade designed using my architectural understanding of illumination and how patterned textiles behave when light passes directly through them. Handmade using a bold, graphic fabric, ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ creates a cool, iridescent glow that adds instant character to any interior.

Fabric Story This shade features an Ankara printed, waxed cotton fabric, chosen for its unusual pattern in blue, grey and white and featuring what I interpret as clouds, water ripples and bridges. The pattern is expressive and modern, and because it sits on the exterior, it remains visually striking whether the lamp is on or off. When illuminated, the colours soften slightly and the geometry gains a gentle depth, as both the blue and white become almost iridescent giving the shade a dynamic yet refined presence.

Lighting Behaviour ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ responds beautifully to warm bulbs, enhancing the richness of the outer colours and creating a cosy, inviting ambience ideal for living and dining rooms plus hallways and stairs . Cooler bulbs sharpen the pattern edges and intensify the contrast, giving the shade a crisp, contemporary feel that works well in home offices, or reading corners. Its balanced behaviour makes it suitable for both ambient and task lighting.

Handmade Craft Each lampshade is handmade in London using traditional making techniques. The exterior pattern is aligned with precision, the interior lining is finished cleanly, and the structure is built to maintain its form over time. As part of a limited run, every shade carries the individuality of the maker’s hand.

Practical Details Available in multiple sizes and suitable for both pendant and table‑lamp fittings.
