Double-sided 'Radio Gaga' Ankara print lampshade

‘Radio Gaga’ is a bespoke lampshade designed using my architectural understanding of illumination and how artificial light interacts with patterned textiles. Handmade using an Ankara, this shade creates a rich, atmospheric light that glows beautifully when illuminated.

Fabric Story This design features an Ankara waxed cotton print, chosen for its  striking abstract pattern of black, grey, white, orange and red. The pattern has a natural sense of movement.

Lighting Behaviour Paired with its rust orange lining, ‘Radio Gaga’ responds distinctively when warm bulbs are applied. The rust tomes make every element of the pattern glow intensely and the white elements of the original pattern take on the rust colour, creating a bold, punchy light ideal for living and dining rooms. Cooler bulbs sharpen the edges of the wave pattern, bringing clarity and maintaining vibrancy. Alternative colours for the inside are available to produce a softer transformation.

Handmade Craft Each lampshade is handmade in London using traditional making techniques. The wave pattern is aligned with precision, the interior lining is finished cleanly, and the structure is built to maintain its sculptural form over time. As part of a limited run, every shade carries the individuality of the maker’s hand.

Practical Details Available in multiple sizes and suitable for both pendant and table‑lamp fittings.
