Double-sided 'Neon Zebra' graphic print lampshade
‘Neon Zebra’ is a bespoke lampshade designed using my architectural understanding of illumination and how patterned textiles behave when placed inside a shade. Unlike traditional lampshades, ‘Neon Zebra’ reveals its design only when lit, creating a bold, multi-coloured zebra effect. A modern addition to any room.
Fabric Story This shade features an Ankara waxed cotton printed fabric on the inside, chosen for its energetic zebra stripes, and sharp contrasts between the neon colour and black grey & white background. When the lamp is off, the exterior remains calm and understated in a clean, plain, coloured fabric. When illuminated, the interior pattern shows through the lining, creating a layered, that shifts subtly depending on the bulb temperature.
Lighting Behaviour Paired with its Pale Grey outer face, 'Neon Zebra' responds dramatically to warm bulbs, pulling the interior pattern through the shade and creating a punchy, graphic glow ideal for living and dining rooms, hallways, and evening lighting. A cooler bulbs would sharpen the stripe edges and intensify the contrast, giving the shade a crisp, contemporary character that works beautifully in workspaces or reading corners. Its ability to shift personality under different bulb temperatures makes it a versatile choice for both ambient, task and decorative lighting. A white outer face is also available.
Handmade Craft Each lampshade is handmade in London using traditional making techniques. The interior pattern is aligned with precision, the lining is finished cleanly, and the structure is built to maintain its form over time. As part of a limited run, every shade carries the individuality of the maker’s hand.
