Double-sided Kaffe Fassett ‘Marrakesh Nights’ lampshade

‘Marrakesh Nights’ is a bespoke lampshade designed using my architectural understanding of illumination and how artificial light interacts with richly patterned and plain coloured textiles. Handmade using an earthy‑toned fabric inspired by Moroccan evenings, this shade creates a warm, atmospheric glow that transforms any interior.

Fabric Story This design features Kaffe Fassett Exotic Woven Stripes fabric, chosen for its deep pinks, oranges, and rusts arranged in a striped, lantern‑like pattern. The fabric evokes the ambience of souks at dusk — saturated colour, repeating geometry, and a sense of quiet vibrancy. When illuminated, the darker tones soften while the pink and orange elements shimmer gently, giving the shade a luxurious, expressive presence.

Lighting Behaviour Paired with its warm rust‑coloured interior lining, 'Marrakesh Nights' responds beautifully to warm bulbs, intensifying the outer colours and creating a rich, intimate atmosphere ideal for living rooms, dining spaces, and quiet corners. 

Handmade Craft Each lampshade is handmade in London using traditional making techniques. The exterior pattern is centred and aligned with precision, the interior lining is finished cleanly, and the structure is built to maintain its form over time. As part of a limited run, every shade carries the individuality of the maker’s hand.
