Double-sided ‘In the Clouds’ Cotton print lampshade
‘In The Clouds’ is a bespoke lampshade designed using my architectural understanding of illumination and how patterned textiles behave when placed inside a shade. Unlike traditional lampshades, ‘In The Clouds’ reveals its design only when lit, creating a bold, glowing cloud effect. A modern addition to any room.
Fabric Story This shade features the same printed cloud fabric found in my single-sided and cylinder ranges but in this incarnation is placed on the interior, of the lampshade. When the lamp is off, the exterior remains calm and understated in a clean, plain, coloured fabric. When illuminated, the interior clouds glow through the lining, the effect of which changes depending on the choice of outside fabric colour.
Lighting Behaviour Paired with its Pink outer face, 'In The Clouds' creates a soft relaxing light whilst pairing it with yellow creates a warmer outcome in the light temperature. Both are suited to living and dining rooms, hallways, bedrooms and are perfect for nurseries. A cooler colour on the outside paired with cooler bulbs give the shade a crisp, contemporary character that works beautifully in workspaces or reading corners. Its ability to shift personality under different outer colour options and bulb temperatures makes it a versatile choice for ambient, task and decorative lighting.
Handmade Craft Each lampshade is handmade in London using traditional making techniques. The interior pattern is aligned with precision, the lining is finished cleanly, and the structure is built to maintain its form over time. As part of a limited run, every shade carries the individuality of the maker’s hand.
