Double-sided ‘Caribbean Sunset’ multicoloured Ankara print lampshade

‘Caribbean Sunset’ is a bespoke lampshade designed using my architectural understanding of illumination and how artificial light interacts with patterned and plain, coloured textiles. Handmade using an Ankara fabric featuring a green palm motif on a black & white houndstooth background, this shade creates a soft, atmospheric light with a calm, laidback vibe when illuminated.

Fabric Story This design features an Ankara print, chosen for its graphic print and the open areas of white in the pattern which are the perfect conduit for taking on secondary colours.

Lighting Behaviour Paired with its biscuit coloured fabric lining, ‘Caribbean Sunset’ responds with a warm glow when light is applied. The biscuit tone transfers into the white elements of the pattern and softens the greens in the palm, creating a soothing and relaxing light reminiscent of a warm, hazy evening. It's ideal for living rooms and bedrooms whilst alternative inner colours like yellow or orange would have a slightly different result, lightening the entire shade. 

Handmade Craft Each lampshade is handmade in London using traditional making techniques. The exterior pattern is aligned with precision, the interior lining is finished cleanly, and the structure is built to maintain its sculptural form over time. As part of a limited run, every shade carries the individuality of the maker’s hand.

Practical Details Available in multiple sizes and suitable for both pendant and table‑lamp fittings.
