Double-sided 'Tiger Tiger Burning Bright' Ankara print lampshade

‘Tiger Tiger Burning Bright’ is a bespoke lampshade designed using my architectural understanding of illumination and how artificial light interacts with patterned and plain textiles when combined. Handmade using an Ankara fabric, this shade creates a bold, atmospheric light that glows beautifully when illuminated.

Fabric Story This design features an Ankara waxed cotton printed fabric, chosen for its dynamic pattern and striking contrast between deep brown background and, tan and orange patterning. The pattern has a natural sense of movement, and when lit, the motif is intensified giving the shade an expressive glow.

Lighting Behaviour Paired with its bright pink lining, The Big Wave responds distinctively when warm bulbs are applied. The pink tone transfers boldly into the elements of the pattern, creating a bold, yet relaxing light, as a result of the red lightwaves, ideal for living and dining rooms plus bedrooms.

Handmade Craft Each lampshade is handmade in London using traditional making techniques. The wave pattern is aligned with precision, the interior lining is finished cleanly, and the structure is built to maintain its sculptural form over time. As part of a limited run, every shade carries the individuality of the maker’s hand.

Practical Details Available in multiple sizes and suitable for both pendant and table‑lamp fittings.
